Entry #18 - April 13th, 2009

Happy Easter!

A little updated is needed.

I went to Hamburg from the 12th - 15th of March. I went with Adam and visited our friend Kaddy there. We explored around Hamburg and one day in Lübeck. I really enjoyed Hamburg. We were told that buildings which seems newer than the others are buildings that had to be rebuilt because the old building that used to stand there were destroyed by the war. It was a great few days in Germany once again.

Christina and Martina came and visited Örebro for about a week. They spent 2-3 days in Örebro and then we went to Malmö and Copenhagen. Malmö was a very nice place with a great atmosphere. Copenhagen is a very beautiful city. It also has a good atmosphere, but the only difference is that it's a bigger city than Malmö. However I think I like Copenhagen the most out of Oslo, Helsinki, and Stockholm. So if you ever get a chance to visit Copenhagen, then I think you should! Many great memories were created on this trip and this was yet another great trip.

In the next few weeks I will be quite busy with my Outdoor Education Class. We will be going camping, skiing, ice fishing, caving, rock climbing, survival skills, horseback riding, etc, etc. So I'm quite excited! Soon my exchange will be over, it went by soooo fast! But I can't wait since Virginia and Lara are coming over to visit and then the three of us and Hayley will be going on a cruise around the Mediterran! Wohoo!!!

Later Gator.

Entry #17 - March 8th, 2009

I think it's about time I stop putting this updating business off.
So a lot is to be updated. However I will keep it short since I know you all won't want to hear all about every single detail that has happened since my last update. Okay, let's begin, shall we?

Trip - To Austria and Czech February 11th - 22nd, 2009
I was gone for 11-12 days on a mini vacation. I had the most fantastic time. Some say because I got to meet up with Christina again, that might actually be true. So I was suppose to stay about 4 days in Linz/Walding, then another 4 days in Vienna, and then a day in Brno, Czech Republic, and then another 3 days in Prague. Things changed. I got sick and so we stayed 5 days in Linz/Walding and 3 days in Vienna. Surprisingly I enjoyed Linz more than Vienna. Every single day of our trip, with the exception of Brno, we got snow! It got to the point where it was annoying :P. But Brno, we had really nice weather so that was awesome! So, Christina travelled with me all the way to Prague, and we met up with Martina in Brno, and then finally met up with Klara in Prague. What a reunion eh? But Prague was beautiful as everyone has said. And plus, everything in Czech is extremely cheap! I was in wonderland!!! People should probably visit Czech before they take Euro and bump up their prices...

Trip - Lappland.
Amazing trip even though it takes about 15- 20 hours of train ride to get there. I got to visit the Ice hotel, drive my own dog sledge, go snow-shoeing, go caving, and most important, WE SAW THE NORTHERN LIGHTS! It was so breath-taking. This trip was definitely worth going. I manage to do so many activities that I otherwise would not get the opportunity to do or the guts to do. So it was an excellent experience!

This month is my busiest month, in accordance to education (finally eh?). But I will be visiting Hamburg, Germany to visit AK. I will be gone from March 12th - 15th, 2009! That will be my escape and my much needed getaway. I haven't experienced stress ever since I got here, and now it finally hits. :( But I cannot wait until March is over. Oh by the way, I'm planning on booking another trip at the very last week of March, any ideas? If you do, be sure to tell me!

Til later,
Ytam.

Entry #16 - February 9th, 2009

Just a little update.

I will be going to Austria and Czech on the 11th of February until the 22nd of February. 11 days!
I will update all of you on my trip when I get back and have time. I will try to update my trip to Austria and Czech before I leave for Lappland on the 27th of February.

All the best.

And sorry to hear about the devastating fire that has caused a lot of deaths, injuries, and damages.
My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

Entry #15 - January 20th, 2009

I'm back in town! Back from Berlin! Boy oh Boy, was Berlin awesome. It could so far be one of the best cities I've visited in Europe. What made it so awesome was the city itself (it was absolutely stunning), the people (they were extremely nice), the transport system (uber convenient) and of course the history! As we all know, Germany is filled with many tragic memories that creates such great history. The world wars, Hitler, and of course the split between the east and west Germany by the Berlin Wall. What is scary is that it all happened not too too long ago!

I went to many attractions and I even got the golden opportunity to visit a concentration camp. This was a great tour, getting to know what life was like in one of the many concentration camps that Germany had. It very sad and tragic but I learned a lot through my experience at the Sachsenhausen camp.

The people are unbelievable there! If at any time, we looked confused or we said something that made us sound like we weren't 100% sure, at least one person would come up to us and ask if we needed help, if we were okay, or if they could do anything to help us.. etc. It was nice to know that people are so willing to help tourists!

This trip makes me want to learn German even more! So you never know! And plus, I have a new roommate, she's from Austria! So I have many opportunities to learn the German language! But that's it! Pictures can be found posted in facebook. Enjoy and comment on them! :)

To all, I highly recommend everyone to visit Berlin if they ever get a chance to! It's definitely worth going! That's for sure!

Next adventures: to conquer Austria (probably for 11days!), and then Denmark!

Tschuss.

Entry #14 - January 7th, 2009

Wow! Time has sure pass by very quickly! It's already the new year! I hope all of you had a nice holiday, had a great Christmas, Boxing Day shopping, New Year's Eve, and of course, New Years Day itself.

I had a quiet time here in Sweden. But it was nice nevertheless. We all thought Sweden wouldn't experience a white Christmas this year but suddenly on the 24th or sometime around there, it snowed! Wohoo!

For New Years, we just gathered all (well, most) of the exchange students who were staying in Orebro and had a small party. I have posted pictures up on Facebook for both Christmas and New Years, so if you haven't checked them out, then maybe you should!

I have quite the amount of places lined up for 2009! And boy am I happy!

As many of you already know, I'll be going to Berlin on the 14th of January to the 17th of January! I will be going with Niki on this trip. It should be quite fun! Don't worry I'll take lots of pictures!

Also, I just bought tickets yesterday to Austria to visit Christina. But I've only bought the ticket there and haven't purchase the ticket back. This is because we don't know our class schedule yet, and we won't know until about the 20th of January and I believe class starts on the 22nd of January. So a few more weeks of holidays! hehe But yay to Austria. That should definitely be a very very good trip!

I am also planning to go to Lappland, to a city called Kiruna! It is Sweden's northernmost city and is located 145km inside the Arctic Circle!!! I am planning to go with the ESN board from February 27th to March 3rd, 2009. This is what the trip will look like:
Day 1: When we arrive in Kiruna, we will then visit the Ice Hotel!
Day 2: Visit caves and go DOGSLEDGING!
Day 3: Optional Activity (Ice Wall Climb!, Snow Shoe, Skiing, Visit Lakkta Station, Freetime)
Duing the nights, we will be watching out for Aurora Borealis! so wohoo!

So hopefully I'll plan more trips out. This is soo exciting! hehe I hope everyone is enjoying their first week of school HA HA HA! is all i've got to say! hehe

Toodles!
