Entry #15 - January 20th, 2009

I'm back in town! Back from Berlin! Boy oh Boy, was Berlin awesome. It could so far be one of the best cities I've visited in Europe. What made it so awesome was the city itself (it was absolutely stunning), the people (they were extremely nice), the transport system (uber convenient) and of course the history! As we all know, Germany is filled with many tragic memories that creates such great history. The world wars, Hitler, and of course the split between the east and west Germany by the Berlin Wall. What is scary is that it all happened not too too long ago!

I went to many attractions and I even got the golden opportunity to visit a concentration camp. This was a great tour, getting to know what life was like in one of the many concentration camps that Germany had. It very sad and tragic but I learned a lot through my experience at the Sachsenhausen camp.

The people are unbelievable there! If at any time, we looked confused or we said something that made us sound like we weren't 100% sure, at least one person would come up to us and ask if we needed help, if we were okay, or if they could do anything to help us.. etc. It was nice to know that people are so willing to help tourists!

This trip makes me want to learn German even more! So you never know! And plus, I have a new roommate, she's from Austria! So I have many opportunities to learn the German language! But that's it! Pictures can be found posted in facebook. Enjoy and comment on them! :)

To all, I highly recommend everyone to visit Berlin if they ever get a chance to! It's definitely worth going! That's for sure!

Next adventures: to conquer Austria (probably for 11days!), and then Denmark!

Tschuss.

Entry #14 - January 7th, 2009

Wow! Time has sure pass by very quickly! It's already the new year! I hope all of you had a nice holiday, had a great Christmas, Boxing Day shopping, New Year's Eve, and of course, New Years Day itself.

I had a quiet time here in Sweden. But it was nice nevertheless. We all thought Sweden wouldn't experience a white Christmas this year but suddenly on the 24th or sometime around there, it snowed! Wohoo!

For New Years, we just gathered all (well, most) of the exchange students who were staying in Orebro and had a small party. I have posted pictures up on Facebook for both Christmas and New Years, so if you haven't checked them out, then maybe you should!

I have quite the amount of places lined up for 2009! And boy am I happy!

As many of you already know, I'll be going to Berlin on the 14th of January to the 17th of January! I will be going with Niki on this trip. It should be quite fun! Don't worry I'll take lots of pictures!

Also, I just bought tickets yesterday to Austria to visit Christina. But I've only bought the ticket there and haven't purchase the ticket back. This is because we don't know our class schedule yet, and we won't know until about the 20th of January and I believe class starts on the 22nd of January. So a few more weeks of holidays! hehe But yay to Austria. That should definitely be a very very good trip!

I am also planning to go to Lappland, to a city called Kiruna! It is Sweden's northernmost city and is located 145km inside the Arctic Circle!!! I am planning to go with the ESN board from February 27th to March 3rd, 2009. This is what the trip will look like:
Day 1: When we arrive in Kiruna, we will then visit the Ice Hotel!
Day 2: Visit caves and go DOGSLEDGING!
Day 3: Optional Activity (Ice Wall Climb!, Snow Shoe, Skiing, Visit Lakkta Station, Freetime)
Duing the nights, we will be watching out for Aurora Borealis! so wohoo!

So hopefully I'll plan more trips out. This is soo exciting! hehe I hope everyone is enjoying their first week of school HA HA HA! is all i've got to say! hehe

Toodles!
